With the count down on to Dubai Expo 2020 here's a few things you should know
A jam-packed six-month schedule means finding things to do at Expo 2020 Dubai can feel a little overwhelming. Here's a quick list of stuff you can’t afford to miss and we'll keep adding to it so you don't miss out. The long awaited event begins on October 1, 2021, and the whole city is preparing at a sustained pace to welcome the giant nationwide event.
The site
A visit to Expo 2020 Dubai, a dedicated site on the outskirts of the city, gives you a chance to admire the best of art, culture, technology, construction, and scientific innovations, all in one place. It's a marvel of impressive architecture when you arrive at the 438 hectare site in South Dubai, a place that gives the unique impression of discovering the world in one day. There are pavilions built to represent 192 countries, each of which showcases the best of their achievements and developments. Look out for the UAE flag that resembles a falcon in flight; polygon-shaped Monaco flag, and the Chinese flag with its traditional lantern-shaped design.
Michelangelo’s giant David
He’s one of the most famous men to have never walked this good earth, and now a colossal five-metre-tall 3D print replica of Michelangelo’s David is taking pride of place at the Italian Pavilion. It was produced following months of painstaking work by artists and innovators, which included 40 hours of digital scanning on 3D printers. It's worth a look.
Ride the world’s largest elevator
The Mobility Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai allows you to explore the world as we know it today with the integration of technologies like big data, robotics, machine learning and autonomous transport. You even have the opportunity to ride the world’s largest elevator. Up, up and away!
Funding of up to US$100,000 per innovative solution
In addition to providing grants, Expo Live showcases global innovators in the Expo Live Pavilion, connecting them to an international network of participating nations, and global businesses, as well as many millions of anticipated visitors. Over the course of the programme, applications have been assessed by over 40 evaluation committee members.
Live entertainment
With more than 60 live shows every day, the Expo 2020 site will be a hub of entertainment energy featuring opera, theatre performances, concerts, sporting events, and much more.
