Think pink grub and join the fight against breast cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this year, supporting the cause is as easy as pie — literally!

Turn your family and friendship groups a brighter shade of pink by hosting a Pink Ribbon foodie event, and raise vital funds for a great cause at the same time.

You'll get to have an awesome foodie-fuelled catch up, plus you will help towards the local and global goal of zero deaths from breast cancer. Win win!

We have put together a range of fundraising ideas to help you host a simple, yet effective, awareness event next month.

Take advantage of the wonderful and varied range of pink cakes, snacks, drinks and biscuits at Choithrams.com, sure to make planning anything far easier for all.

At home

Host a breakfast, morning tea, brunch or lunch in the comfort of your own home. Invite your closest friends/family and ask them to donate to attend.

Is there any better way to celebrate than with food? We don’t think so.

Trying eating ‘pink’ at an at-home brekkie or brunch, serving anything from basic morning strawberry milkshakes to tasty quinoa salads with roasted pear and beetroot, turning everything a cute shade of rose.

Think pots of raspberry jam, waffles with dollops of cream and red berry sauce drizzled over, and jars of red pickled onions or cabbage.

Getting pink on the menu is simple

The great outdoors

The weather is beginning to cool down so why not hold a picnic in your local park or at the beach? Ask guests to bring a dish and donate to attend.

It's a great way to plan a get together for the whole family, and you can even add fun games to your event. How about a pass-the-parcel for the little ones or a pink-themed ring toss, sack race or egg and spoon dash.

Turn your table pink

In the office

Host a Pink Ribbon morning tea or bake sale in your office and ask everyone to donate to attend or to purchase an item.

All the proceeds go to local breast cancer charities.

Alternatively, let your colleagues in on a little secret — the options below can be snapped up at Choithrams.com for anyone short on baking time.

We got you!
