A no-nonsense three-step guide making contouring easy

With the holidays creeping up on us, use these last few weeks to perfect something new in your beauty regime.

This month we’re contouring with the help of some great products available at Choithrams.com

It’s been taking the beauty world by storm for a few years now and it’s not going anywhere, mostly due to professional-level products being produced by high street brands.

Here’s our favourite, easy-to-use base coats, primers and contour must-haves, that will have you looking like a chiseled goddess in no time

Contouring can help slim your face and create definition and illumination to create a sleek, sculpted look.

But if the thought of contouring makes your head spin, fear not, there are easier ways to achieve a sculpted make-up look.

Create a smooth canvas

Use a primer to create a smooth base before applying foundation. The skin-prepping product will smooth lines and help your makeup stay put longer.

If you want pores to appear visibly smoother, try the fabulous foundation range from Maybelline. Layer on your foundation and concealer using latex make-up sponges to ensure complete coverage.

Add your contour

Once your base is all set, reach for a contour cream or powder that's a touch darker than your complexion. Make-up artists will tell you for a natural contour never use a product that's more than two shades darker than your skin.

Swipe the deep colour into the hollows of your cheeks and just along the hairline to chisel your features.

If you have a few extra minutes to spare, use a contour blending brush to swipe a line down each side of your nose. This will make your nose appear more slender.

Blend harsh edges

This is one of the most important steps in contouring. Grab a makeup sponge like the Xclusive latex wedges (they come in a handy pack of four) to seamlessly vanish sharp lines.

Use the pointed tip of the sponge to blend the product in the same linear pattern that you applied it. You don't want to smudge the dark colour all over your face.

The results are a sculpted effect that's anything but complicated.
