Get fit and eat well for Dubai's annual celebration of fitness and wellness

Now in its sixth year, Dubai Fitness Challenge puts forward a simple goal: complete 30 minutes of activity each day for 30 days.

The aim is to inspire everyone to create a fitness-focused mindset and seek healthy, active lifestyles, and with the month-long calendar of free workouts, exciting fitness events and wellness-centric entertainment, there’s plenty to sign up for.

But exercise is only one part of maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle - here are a few tips on how to build healthy habits, and make the most of Dubai Fitness Challenge.

Join the movement this year from October 29-November 27, and stock up on healthy fresh fruits and vegetables to complement your daily exercise routine.

Start with a nutritious breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day - so plan ahead to rustle up a great nutritious breakfast that will keep you energised for the morning.

After breakfast, keep that nutrition flowing; with a bit of forward planning, and by staying mindful of what you’re eating, you can make sure you’re getting everything your body needs. And that doesn’t mean cutting out carbs or fats - but keeping everything in balance.

Two events not to miss

The flagship community events take place on November 6 with Dubai Ride, a fantastic, unique and memorable opportunity to ride down the iconic Sheikh Zayad Road, without the usual flow of traffic, and the Dubai Run, which takes place on November 20.

It’s a great time of year to lap up the Dubai weather, stroll through the city's many parks with friends, cycle along the beach with family, or join a gym class to clear your mind.

Studies show it only takes 30 minutes of physical activity a day to bring significant benefits not only to our physical health - but our mental health as well.

Look after your mind as well as your body

Whilst working out 30 minutes a day can do wonders for your physical health, what about your mental health?

Here are three brilliant mental health apps that you’ll want on your radar.

Fitbit gets you in tune with you. The app helps to understand your daily stress management levels from 1-100 and can help reduce these levels through tips and by improving your sleeping patterns.

Enhapp connects you with the experts, offering one-to-one guidance with your wellness journey. There’s a chat feature and constant support with any wellness hurdles you wish to overcome. Speaking to the experts is now so much easier.

STEPPI makes fitness fun and inclusive for all in the workplace through a variety of challenges whether you want to walk or work out. Creating individual or group goals and dynamic challenges to ignite friendly competition at your organisation. There is even a live leaderboard to display team and individual ranking.

Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated plays a crucial part in maintaining good health. To meet the daily recommended amount of water, don’t forget to leave home without your refillable water bottle and keep your eyes peeled for one of the 45+ Dubai Can refill stations dotted across the city.
