We all know it's good to read, and the Dubai authorities are one step ahead.
The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has launched an initiative called Find Your Book, in a bid to help and encourage everyone to use the state-of-the-art library services across Dubai. The new ideas are based on the proposals of school children participating in the second edition of the Young City Makers Championship and the new features can be accessed via the Dubai Public Library smart application.
As part of the annual challenge, which was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the students attended a workshop at Al Safa Art & Design Library and were asked to come up with ideas to improve the membership and service, as well future proposals, across the public library sector. Dubai Culture received 16 ideas which were evaluated for feasibility and approved five initiatives that are now being implemented. Thanks to the ideas from the younger generation, Find Your Book means you can select and purchase books via the app, as well as search the online map for the nearest public library to you.
The new initiative reflects Dubai Culture’s commitment to the Smart Dubai Government initiative launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum through the various technical solutions it provides for the convenience of community members as well as in line with the modern requirements and the emirate’s future vision.
Look out for a few other great initiatives, hoped to be implemented in the future, including the Reading Youth Club, which offers a cultural dialogue to discuss a book with others in the library's halls, as well as My Book is Your Book, a kind of charity book exchange across all Dubai Public Library branches.
