Founder and CEO of Re:Nourish Nicci Clark explains why the world, and the UAE, needs a soup on the run
Just before the world was turned on its head, Re:Nourish began revolutionizing the soup world with a range of chilled products supporting contemporary health goals. After a somewhat challenging year "business is booming" according to mother-of-two Nicci Clark, the brand’s founder and CEO. As the first supermarket to stock the range in the UAE, Choithrams.com sat down with Clark and found out a bit more. A former critical care nurse, nutritionist and reflexologist, health is at the very core of her DNA.
Having started a fresh food delivery company called Nourished in 2010, which included breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks delivered to your door, Nicci was perfectly placed to receive feedback. Everyone loved Nourished especially her fresh soups, including the entire cast of popular UK television drama series Downton Abbey. Re:Nourish are the world’s first heatable and fully recyclable soup in a bottle. Vitamin packed fresh grab-and-go soups, in a mighty little bottle good for the gut and kind to the planet. Loved by the nation with the bottle to be different!
How did you kick start Re:Nourish?
Soup is a healthy, nutrient dense lunch that is packed with vitamins, fibre and low in fat. After such amazing feedback from clients at Nourished, I decided I wanted to make it super easy for people to enjoy soup on the go, hence devising the world’s first heatable, fully recyclable bottle for soup. Re:Nourish launched in 2019, the name a rebirth from the original company. The soups certainly renourish the body and soul so it just seemed such a good fit.
How did you decide which flavours?
Food is medicine in a different form. All of our soups have a functional health benefit. We use delicious fresh vegetables and partner them with ingredients that help the body. For example our Digest soup – roasted carrot and ginger. Ginger has been used for centuries for digestion. Immunity soup – kale, spinach and turmeric. Kale is packed with vitamin C a powerful antioxidant needed to repair our body’s cells and vital for a healthy immune system.
What was the inspiration behind the concept?
As an ex critical care nurse, good nutrition has always been a big part of my life. Fresh soups are the perfect healthy lunch option as they are absorbed into the body very quickly. They are also high in fibre, packed with essential vitamins and low in sugar and fat.
