We leave the skin on to experience the real crisp in this typical German sweet treat

Ingredients

6 Large apples
1 tbsp Fresh lemon juice
180g Butter
150g Brown sugar
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Nutmeg

Method

Preheat the oven to 220°C.
Halve, core and peel apples. Cut into wedges. Divide among 2 pie pans in a single layer. Sprinkle with lemon juice.
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and a tablespoon of water.
Cook, stirring until sugar dissolves. Pour over apples. Roast in oven, turning halfway through, until apples are tender and caramelized, about 30 minutes.
